Anyone wishing to be a guide in London and in the UK must obtain a license. The Blue Badge Guide Training is by far the best preparatory course to become a guide in England. The courses last a year and do not cost very little, between £3,000 and £ 6,000. But once you are qualified as a guide, work is almost guaranteed, as the most prestigious tourist establishments only accept Blue Badge Guides. The earnings are not bad either, £250/300 per day.
If you are only interested in working in the city of London, City Hall also offers these courses at lower prices. (£ 1,500). Remember that you will need to speak English almost as a native speaker for this work.
